HKUST Clear Water Bay (CWB) Campus (Living Lab)

Brief Description

This is the first implementation of our developed methodologies in a real water supply system. Ten access points are created in the HKUST water supply system network. Each access point allows pressure measurement and generation of transient (waterhammer) waves. These access points are controlled remotely using a web app allowing for pressure monitoring, passive and active testing, and remote-control valve operations. More details about this SSC project can be found here.

Technical specifications:

  • The network connects to two supply points at the North and South gates and extends over an area of 3 sq. km. The main pipe is a 250mm ductile iron pipeline.

Measurement capabilities

  • UNIK GE transducers are installed which are capable to continuously measure pressure data.
